Information Technology (IT)

Purpose

The purpose of the Information Technology Department is to provide computer services to Whitman County’s:

  • Department heads
  • Elected officials
  • In-house staff 
  • Taxpayers

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the County’s computer system
  • Purchase and install personal computers (PCs)
  • Set up and maintain Local Area Networks (LAN)
  • Train employees on supported PC applications
  • Upgrade and repair PCs
  • Write new software programs and update existing software
