Heavy Equipment Operator-Lacrosse

This is responsible road maintenance and construction work involving, on a continuing basis, the safe, efficient and skilled operation of heavy road maintenance equipment and the performance of manual work. Work of this class is distinguished by the skill level necessary to perform the more difficult operations for which the equipment is used, and/or significantly increased responsibility for the safety of employees working near or in conjunction with assigned equipment. Work requires employees to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance and completion of assignments. This classification is characterized by the skilled operation, on a continuing basis, of one or more of the following equipment: bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, graders, welding equipment, truck, tractor and trailer as required.

Work is normally performed in the cab of assigned equipment or outdoors in all weather conditions.

Assists clerk staff with data entry, cashiering, courtroom clerical duties and accepting and processing legal pleadings.Process legal pleadings on paper and electronically. Perform clerical functions related to courtroom proceedings. Collect and process payments of legal financial obligations. Review data records for accuracy and completeness.

Judicial Operations Specialist 1 - Located in Pullman

Closing Date: 8/1/2019

Performs a wide variety of highly responsible technical operations and legal process work providing confidential and specialized support services for the District Court Judge, including review of case files and pending matters, preparation of criminal and civil files for trials and hearings and responsible for recording and monitoring all proceedings as required by court rule. The position requires advanced knowledge of legal terminology and of the complexity regarding district court and courtroom operations. The judicial operations specialist drafts memoranda, notices and correspondence. Work requires a high degree of reliability, confidentiality, accuracy and speed, and the ability to multitask and prioritize.

Starting Salary $3041.00 per month DOQ plus benefits. Closing Date: Open Until Filled. First Review July 1, 2019.

Assistant DOL Specialist – Whitman County - Provides courteous, prompt and accurate service to the public while performing vehicle/vessel licensing and titling transactions; oversees, audits, and trains Dept of Licensing Sub-Agent offices in Rosalia and Pullman; accounts for all Licensing monies received daily from Agent and Sub-Agencies; and assures County compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards. Lateral Entry Deputy Sheriff

Closing Date: 12/31/2020

Whitman County's Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Lateral Deputy Sheriff eligibility list on a continual basis.

Applicants must be currently employed a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive months of full-time paid service or ending employment no earlier than 12 months prior to application, as a sworn police officer in a civilian governmental jurisdiction, tribal police officer in Washington state, natural resource investigators employed by the Washington department of natural resources, special agents employed by the Washington state gambling commission, or liquor enforcement officer. In addition, successful completion of the Washington State Basic Training Academy or State training academy in the state in which they are currently employed and the ability to successfully complete the Washington State Basic Training Equivalency Test within one (1) year after employment. Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, no maximum age limit, and must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.

These qualifications must be met at the time of application and also at the time of appointment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license prior to appointment is required.

Provisional or temporary employment is specifically excluded from consideration in meeting the minimum requirements.

SALARY: $4 353.00 per month plus benefits, DOQ.

Whitman County's Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Corrections Officer eligibility list on a continual basis. Testing will be completed when sufficient applications have been received.

The Whitman County Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Corrections Officer with the Whitman County Sheriff's Office. This testing procedure will establish a certified eligibility list from which applicants will be considered when positions become available within the Sheriff’s Office. This process will be subject to the rules of the Whitman County Civil Service Commission.

Temporary Job Pools

Temporary Pool positions are on an as needed basis within the County. A separate application must be filled out for each position job.  Applications will then remain current for 6 months from the date received.  Due to the nature of the positions work hours cannot be guaranteed.  Salary Ranges: Hourly - Current minimum wage or higher depending on position and experience.
