The Whitman County Community Court is a program designed to assist participants and address underlying mental health and/or substance use disorder conditions that lead to criminal behavior. Instead of traditional sentences and probation, our community court is designed to afford the participant an opportunity: to acknowledge the need for assistance and to enter into a supervised, structured, treatment-based program designed to help manage their mental health and/or substance use disorder diagnosis. The program includes enhanced accountability, requires full payment of restitution when owed and requires progress and enhancing one’s life skills. The goal is simple: a healthy, law abiding life for the participant and a safer community for us all.
Whitman County Community Court (WCCC) is designed to help participants overcome the issue of Substance Use Disorder. This is accomplished through continued engagement with the court, Substance Use Disorder treatment, face-to-face sessions with WCCC case managers, vocational training, education, and other services that may be recommended by your assigned case manager.
Whitman County Community Court (WCCC) provides participants with the opportunity to address mental health issues outside of substance use disorders. By partnering with Palouse River Counseling, the WCCC aims to provide participants with the help they need through mental health counseling, therapy, and other recommendations as made by your case manager.
